1 pint strawberries, rinsed and sliced
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
After slicing, set aside 1/3 of the strawberries. In a saucepan over medium high heat, combine the other 2/3 strawberries, sugar, and vanilla. Cook stirring occasionally until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Use a whisker to mash the strawberries while cooking. Remove from heat and add the fresh 1/3 strawberries to the sauce. Chill in the fridge.
If you want to make the sauce thicker, add a teaspoon or two of corn starch.
Add 3 teaspoons of Grand Marnier liqueur.
Try over angel food cake or waffles.
